Sally Wigley, 83, of South Scranton, died Friday at Moses Taylor Hospital after an illness. She was the widow of Joseph D. Wigley who died July 11, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Crockenberg.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Howard McLaughlin. She was a member of St. John Neumann Parish. She was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and attended Marywood College.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who doted on her grandchildren. She loved to laugh and possessed a great sense of humor. She loved animals, especially cats, and fed and cared for the strays of the neighborhood, taking in several over the years as her pets.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Wigley and wife, Linda, Clarks Green; and Bruce Wigley and wife, Shelly, Moosic; four grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Sydney and Alyssa; a sister, Betty Nemeth, Williamsport; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Carroll.
The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 9:30 in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Bryant, pastor. Interment Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
