Shirley Harmer, 85, of Binghamton, N.Y., was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert W. Harmer; her parents, William and Edna Smerdon; and one brother, Donald A. Smerdon.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Herbert F. and Debra Harmer, Cantonment, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Raymond Bishop, Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren, Tracy Lorenc, Daniel, Richard, and Steven Harmer; Lisa Bishop and Andrea Bishop-Bailey; seven great-grandchildren, Casey, Katherine, Katelyn, Arianne, Dylan, Sara, and Cameron; a nephew, Donald W. Smerdon; many other nieces and nephews.
Her extended family includes, church members of Grace Baptist Church for more than 50 years, and her Grand-Way and Kmart co-workers.
The family would like to extend deep appreciation and gratitude to those who loved and cared for her. A special thank you to Linda Woosley, Helen Barton, "Lil" Jean and Tracy Lorenc.
Private funeral services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City, N.Y., at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Russell Smith will officiate. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, from 3 to 5 p.m.
