Susan Mary Plappert, 78, of Old Forge, died Monday in the intensive care unit of Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband, Robert J. Plappert, died on Dec. 24, 2011.
Born in Gouldsboro, daughter of the late John and Mary Guriski Kachuroi, she was a graduate of Little Flower Girls School of Philadelphia. Before retirement, she was employed by Pawnee Pants of Olyphant and, in her younger years, Brooks Manufacturing, Old Forge, as a seamstress. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Susan was an avid bingo player and greatly enjoyed gardening, reading and crocheting.
Surviving are a daughter, Alicia Lozar and husband, John, Reading; three sons, Robert Plappert Jr. and wife, Victoria, Dunmore; Jack Plappert and wife, Ann, Guyton, Ga.; and Michael Plappert and wife, Melissa, Langhorne; three grandchildren, John Michael Young, and Angelica and Evan Plappert; a brother, Robert Kachuroi, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Klepacz and Anne Barr, both of Dayton, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Lane; and two brothers, Joseph and Michael Kachuroi.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with services at 10 in Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church, 174 N. Main St., Old Forge, by the Rev. Donald Perry, pastor. Interment will follow in Old Forge Cemetery.
