Teresa Domanoski, R.N., 76, died Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Domanoski, who died April 26, 2005.
Born and raised in Scranton, Teresa met the love of her life, John, while earning her nursing degree. On the Fourth of July, 1959, they married, moved to New Jersey and began what would become a 46-year fairy tale, ending upon John's death in 2005. Just before he died, John promised to hold out his hand to guide Teresa back to him, and the family has no doubt that he did.
While raising three daughters, Teresa also pursued her nursing career. After a short time working as an R.N., she became the director of nursing at House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, N.J., where she remained for 20 years. Upon returning to the Scranton area, John and Teresa owned and operated the Hilltop Café. After a time, Teresa returned to nursing, becoming the director of nursing at Carbondale Nursing Home. Prior to retirement, she was also a charge nurse at Mid-Valley Hospital and Green Ridge Nursing Home.
Teresa is survived by her daughters, Karen Keklak, Diane Abda and fiancé, Peter Neff; and Ellen Busher and her husband, Brian; six grandchildren, Michael and wife, Dana; Jason, Melanie, Eliza, Elaina and Timothy; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Joshua.
Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City. Interment will be private for family only at Union Cemetery, Peckville.
