Theresa A. Gavanis

Theresa A. Gavanis, 73, of Archbald, died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a courageous five-year battle with breast cancer. Her husband is Richard Gavanis. The couple recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Born in Archbald, daughter of the late Peter and Angeline Esgro Conserette, she was a 1958 graduate of Archbald High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper in the local garment industry. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church.

Theresa was a woman of strong faith and donated thousands of brown scapulas to various organizations. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Also surviving are two sons, Rick, Tampa, Fla.; and Chris, Archbald; a daughter, Lynn, Scranton; two brothers, Frank and Joe Conserette, Archbald; and two sisters, Maria Bolcavage and Jane Esolen, Archbald; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Conserette.

The funeral will be Friday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Interment, private.
