Thomas Clinton Griffiths

Thomas Clinton Griffiths, 86, of Scranton, died Monday evening at Mountain View Care Center in Moosic. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Lee Pilosi Griffiths, with whom he celebrated their 50 year anniversary on March 24, 2012.

Born in Scranton on March 12, 1926, son of the late Arja and Dorothy Greame Griffiths, Tom attended West Scranton High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country in World War II and the Korean conflict. After his tour of duty, Tom was employed for 35 years at the job he loved at Bell Telephone Company, Scranton. He was also very active in the Telephone Pioneers of America where he held the presidency position.

Tom loved to dance, bowl and golf, but spending time with his family and friends was what he loved most. Tom was a member and trustee at Jackson Street Baptist Church.

He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa, and granddaughter, Kendall, at home; son, Tom and wife, Kim, and grandchildren, Thomas and Victoria, Dunmore; and his oldest granddaughter, Daina, Clarks Summit; sister-in-law, Joy Pilosi, Taylor; brother-in-law, Tom Pilosi and wife, Barbara, Taylor; and brother-in-law, John Baptist, Moorehead City, N.C.; as well as many much loved nieces and nephews.

Tom was also proceeded in death by his sister, Dorothy Baptist, Moorehead City, N.C.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Mountain View Care Center who gave him amazing care throughout his illness.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kory Houser. Interment with military honors will follow at Washburn Street Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends and family may call Thursday, March 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Jackson Street Baptist Church, 1206 Jackson St., Scranton, PA 18504.
