Verna Bentler (Mabel) Scott

Verna (Mabel) Bentler Scott, 91 of Gouldsboro, Pa., died Wednesday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Scott, in 1967.

Born April 9, 1922, in Gouldsboro, daughter of the late August and Anna M. Christie Bentler, she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group and attended the Gouldsboro United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Marjorie Boruta, Gouldsboro; Lucille Wombacker, Scranton; and Rachel Gress, Moscow; two sons, Earl Scott and companion, Judy Czachor, Madison Twp.; and Thomas Scott and wife, Kay, Gouldsboro; three sisters, Augusta Silvi, Gouldsboro; Ruth Barhight, Scranton; and Delores Mullunix, Florida; two brothers, Larry Bentler and wife, Cherie, Gouldsboro; and Gail Bentler and wife, June, Cresco; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, three sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, 401 Church St., Moscow, with the Rev. Betty Reilly officiating. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
