Veronica Kotchko Balog, 90, of Peckville, formerly of Jessup, died Friday at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of George A. Balog, who died Feb. 24, 2000. The couple was married for 53 years.
Born in Jessup, daughter of the late Paul Sr. and Mary Tashony Kotchko, she was a graduate of Jessup High School, class of 1939, and Penn State Academy of Beauty Culture in Scranton. She was owner/operator of Kotchko's Beauty Salon in Jessup until her retirement. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jessup for more than 50 years. During that time, she participated in the youth fellowship, the Westminster Guild and most recently the fellowship group.
She is survived by a daughter, Arlene Miller and husband, Tom, Olyphant; a sister-in-law, Jean A. Caines and husband, Harry Jr., Olyphant; 14 nieces and nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Susan, Elizabeth, Jean, Mary, Ann and Mildred; four brothers, Paul Jr., Michael, Stephen and Joseph; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward Balog and Helen Balog.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with services at 10 a.m. by the Rev. William Marsh at First Presbyterian Church, Third Avenue, Jessup. Interment, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Peckville.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
