Vincent John Riggi of Tobyhanna and Palm Beach, Fla., died Saturday morning after a brief illness. His wife is the former Denise M. Dziuba.
Born Feb. 28, 1925, in Dunmore, son of the late Nicola Joseph and Katherine Noto Riggi, Vince was a graduate of Dunmore High School. He attended electrical trade school in New York City and then pursued further studies at Penn State University
. He was a life member of the National Electrical Contractors Association. In 1949, he founded Riggi Electric Co. in Dunmore and in 1980, incorporated his business and became Everon Electrical Contractors in Scranton. He was a member of Glen Oak Country Club since 1970 and Pocono Farms Country Club since 1976.
Vince's passion was downhill skiing, golf and sailing. To his family and friends, he was extremely generous and shared a lifetime of interesting stories.
Vincent is also survived by a son, Vincent Riggi and wife, Jane, Clarks Summit; daughters, Diane Riggi Smith and husband, Jim, Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and Cathy Draper and husband, David, Dalton; grandchildren, James, Delia and Matthew Riggi; and Lee and Gordon Draper; brothers, Nicholas and Thomas Riggi, both of Scranton; and Anthony Riggi, Boca Raton, Fla.; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Steven, John and Joseph Riggi; and sisters Grace and Mary Scaturro; and Anna Baron.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Except for those in the immediate family, all friends attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
