Walter M. Loss, 92, South Scranton, died Thursday evening at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp., after an illness. His wife is the former Frances Miesionczek. They would have been married for 67 years Nov. 23.
Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Anna Kwiatkowski Loss, he was an Army
veteran of World War II
and was the recipient of two Purple Heart
s. He was employed by Gress Poultry before retiring. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral and the DAV Branch II, Dickson City.
Walter's wife, Frances, was a very dedicated and loving wife, visiting him every day at the medical center.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Hurwitch and husband, Gerald, Merrimack, N.H.; and Wanda Donihoo, Juliette, Ga.; three grandsons, Scott Ball, Michael and Cory Hurwitch; five great-grandchildren, Amber, Kalie and Justin Ball; Elijah and Kylan Hurwitch; one sister, Amelia Liska, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Liberasky; and five brothers, John, Frank, Joseph, Peter and Thomas Loss.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Leon S. Gorgol Funeral Home, 1131 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 10 in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral. Entombment, parish cemetery.
