Wilbert E. McWilliams, a resident of Scranton, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., died early Friday morning in Moses Taylor Hospital after suffering from a stroke. He departed this life surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 8, 1936, in Halifax Co., N.C., the son of the late Edward McWilliams and Martha Perry. He was employed by the same company over 40 years until he retired due to illness in 1997.
Wilbert was an only child and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a quiet man that enjoyed sports, loved cars, and was well liked by everyone who knew him.
He leaves to mourn a son, Wilbert E. McWilliams Jr.; two daughters, Terry McWilliams and her husband, Keith Cooper; and Debbie McWilliams; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton. Interment will be private.
