Willard R. "Bill" Cawley, 83, a resident of Long Pond, formerly of Dunmore, died Tuesday morning at Timber Ridge Health Care Center, after a brief illness. His wife, the former Hazel M. O'Neill, died Aug. 12, 2010.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late John and Margaret "Martha" Staples Cawley, he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Blakeslee. Before retirement, he and his wife owned and operated the Airport Inn Grocery Store, Schultzville.
Surviving are a son, Donald Evans and wife, Maureen, Blakeslee; a grandson, Jamie Evans and wife, Julie, Blakeslee; a granddaughter, Petty Officer 2nd Class Jacinda Evans, serving with the Navy; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Paul Evans; two stepgrandchildren, Specialist Francis Hollenback III, serving with the Army; and Sarah Hollenback; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John "Junior" Cawley; and a sister, Irene Reap.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Wayne Kaufman, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Blakeslee. Interment will be private.
