William F. Hillerman, 90, a lifelong resident of the East Mountain section of Scranton, died Monday evening in the Country Meadows Assisted Living, Allentown. He was the devoted husband of the former Bette Powell, who died on June 21, 2012. At the time of her death they had been married for 58 years.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late William and Eloise Brittian Hillerman. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and served with the U.S. Navy
during WW II. He had been employed by Consolidated Molded Products until its closing and retired from PNC Bank.
He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed music of all forms. His passion was woodworking and he enjoyed sharing his talent with others, he was also proud of having built his own home.
Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Staffaroni and her husband, Dr. Mark Staffaroni, Allentown; a son, W. Bradley Hillerman, Chalfont; five grandchildren, Adam Staffaroni, Mountain View, Calif.; Andrew Staffaroni, Allentown; Trevor Hillerman, Chalfont; Matthew Hillerman, Chalfont; and Erin Hillerman, Chalfont; a sister, Eloise Weis, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Ratzel and Margaret Hillerman.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton, with services by the Reverend Arthur W. Davis, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Scranton. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
