Ralph Lettieri, 70, a lifelong Old Forge resident, died Tuesday afternoon in the Regional Hospital of Scranton from complications due to COVID-19. His beloved wife is Jean Archer Lettieri. The couple celebrated a remarkable 50 years of marriage on Dec. 12.
Born and raised in Old Forge, son of the late Ralph and Mary Stallone Lettieri, he was a 1968 graduate of Old Forge High School. Ralph then enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. Having worked as a supervisor, Ralph retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a parishioner of the former St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Old Forge.
In years past, Ralph enjoyed bowling in area leagues and spending time on crossword puzzles and playing "Words with Friends." He was also a true Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
His family gives its gratitude to the staff of the Regional Hospital ICU, especially Dr. Gervais Charles, Michelle and Lynn. Also, Dr. Armando Sallavanti, Dr. Lear Von Koch, Dr. S.J. Galanakis and Dr. Henry Yeager are acknowledged for their genuine care.
Also surviving are a sister, Rosemary Gnall, and husband, Bill, Old Forge; a sister-in-law, Joan Peregmon, and husband, Phil, Olyphant; brothers-in-law, Vince Archer, and wife, Kerri, and their children, Vivienne, James and Ivy, of Dunmore, and Sam Archer, California. He leaves behind nieces and nephews, Jason Gazda, and wife, Erica and their son, Mason; and Christina Quinnan and husband, Tony, and their children, Harper and Hunter; numerous special relatives; and his lovable Cavachon dog, "Mayce." Ralph loved all of his nieces and nephews dearly.
The funeral will be at a date and time to be announced in upcoming weeks with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church (Prince of Peace Parish), Old Forge. Interment will follow in Old Forge Cemetery. Viewing will be private at the family's convenience.
