We loved Al! He led us on missions to Honduras and Mississippi to build and provide medical care and much more to the financially neediest. Al would bring family and friends with him and work himself and us hard. He would share his good humor and pirate smile and make the work fun. He would put his arm around us and you just felt the love of a good dad/uncle/grandpa/friend; even if you just met him. I thank God for his good life and pray now for his wonderful family.

Dear Eleanor, Karen, Donna, Elaine, and Nicki. I am very sorry to hear of Al's death. I have many fond memories of him as a child growing up on Hollister Avenue. I remember him as a kind man and a good friend to my dad. I hope you can find comfort in knowing he is at peace and hanging out with my dad again. I still have the silver dollar he gave me when I received my first Communion when I was in second grade. I am 60 now so I hope that tells you how much I treasured it and plan to pass it on to my daughter one day with a note that explains where I received it and instructions to pass it on through her family. Thinking of you all during this difficult time and so grateful to have known Al. The people who are kind to children live in memories forever.
