Frank Nicolosi Obituary

Frank J. Nicolosi, 66, of Peckville, passed away peacefully Sunday, surrounded by his family at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He was married to the former Kimberly Fioretti. The couple celebrated its 25th wedding anniversary.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank and Agnes Schiavo Nicolosi. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Scranton, and Millersville University. Before retirement, Frank was a 30-year science teacher and coach at Valley View High School, Archbald. While at Valley View, he coached multiple sports teams, including girls softball, girls basketball, boys baseball and boys basketball. While there, he lead the teams to many district championships and the 1996 Valley View boys basketball team to the state finals.

He had a positive influence on the many student athletes throughout his years of coaching. He played in multiple modified softball leagues throughout the area, and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid fisherman and a former eagle scout. He was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.

Frank was a loving husband, father and friend who will be sadly missed.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Emanuleson, the staff of the Hematology and Oncology Association of NEPA and the staff of the Northeast Nephrology Association for the compassionate care given to Frank.

Also surviving are his two sons, Frank and James, Peckville; aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, nieces and nephews.

I will really miss Mr Nic. Had him as a teacher at VV and was our teener league coach back in the late 70's. I'll never forget riding around in that Ghia he had listening to "Nobody's fault but mine" on 8 track over and over again. A great mentor and friend. He made a lasting impression on me. RIP Mr Nic.

Dear Kim & Family,

I can't begin to tell you how heartbroken I was when I heard about the passing of Frank, who will always be known to me as Mr. Nick. He was truly my favorite high school teacher. He made learning and going to class fun. He was the type teacher that when you walked into his class and saw you were having a sub you were bummed he wasn't there. The thing I will always remember about Mr. Nick was everyday before class started...(I had him when we had half days because all the schools burned down), we would all go to Ham's store on Academy Street for penny candy. I would walk to my seat, the very last seat in the back and from the front of the classroom Mr. Nick would yell...Pambianco, what kind of gum do you have in that bag. He would either walk back and rummage through the bag and see what else looked good or he would have me throw a piece of gum to him in the front of the classroom. This happened everyday and we would just laugh and kid around until it was time to get serious and start learning about science. I may not have seen him in years but whenever I heard his name, it's those memories that would be the first to come to mind, and they are memories of him I will always cherish. He was an amazing teacher and a very special man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your boys during this very difficult time.
RIP MR. NICK.
