Daniel Maroni Obituary
Born in Scranton, Dan was the son of the late Thomas and Grace Sillitti Maroni. He graduated from the former Scranton Technical High School, class of 1952. He served in the Army during post-war Korea and worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He co-founded Maroni's Pizza and owned Maria's Pizza in West Scranton until 1997. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
Affectionately known as "Poppy" by his family, he was everyone's best friend. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and children. He was an animal lover and was proud of being a lifelong West Scranton resident. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Duffy, San Francisco, Calif.; sons, Daniel and wife, Barbara, Stone Mountain, Ga.; Mark, Somerset, Pa.; and Joseph and wife. Michele, Dickson City; grandchildren, Kayla and Mark Maroni, and Morgan Duffy; a brother, Louis Maroni, Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Maroni.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Davies and Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Arrangements under the care of Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, Carl J. Savino Jr., supervisor.

So sorry for your loss. Danny was always so good to us kids. He always watched out for us. We would always see him with a smile and he always had kind words for us. We have a lot of fond memories of him and your family. Our neighborhood has never been the same since he sold Maria's.
