Janet Young Obituary
She was born in Peckville, daughter of the late Charles and Julia Bilski Giovagnoli. She was office manager for the dental office of Dr. Joseph Gronsky and Dr. Michael Aronica, Scranton, and was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, Jermyn, where she was a lector and CCD teacher. She was the first female member of the Jermyn council and first female member of Jermyn Lions Club. Janet was also the first female president of Lackawanna County Association of Boroughs.
She was a loving wife and mother.
Also surviving are one daughter, Brittany Young and companion, Anthony Pascucci, Kingston; a son, Robby and wife, Erica, Jermyn; a sister, Patrician Giovagnoli, Wilkes-Barre; five brothers, Carl and Frank, Archbald; James, Jessup; Gary, Lexington Park, Md.; and Gregory, Olyphant; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Mary Church by Monsignor Dale Rupert. All those going to the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn.
