Salvatore A. Verrastro

On February 29, 2016, we lost a wonderful man, Salvatore Verrastro, 51, of Dunmore, who died unexpectedly on vacation in Las Vegas, Nevada. First and foremost, he was a loving husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. He was owner and President of Sal's Electrical and worked side by side with his father and brothers. He was a strong community leader coaching Miss-E League, Biddy basketball and DGR soccer. He donated his time and electrical work at Sherwood Park and donated the lights around the tank on South Blakely Street. He had been a member of Dunmore Council since 2007 and was its former President, a former member of Sherwood Park Youth Association, and a member of the San Cataldo Club.

Sal, a strong person both physically and mentally, was honest and straight forward, always spoke up for what he believed in, and was a trusted adviser to many. He had great humor and a knack for making people comfortable. He was also a person that would always step up when someone was in need.

Sal enjoyed hunting with his family and friends or sitting in his garage with his buddies enjoying his homemade Limoncello. He loved spending time with his wife at his aunt Ro Ro's cottage at Lake Spangenburg sitting around a fire and joking with his friends. Sal was expecting his first grandchild and could not be more excited to welcome him into the family.

He left behind a devastated family: wife, Donna (Jordan); daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Stephon Burgette; son, Salvatore; his parents, Mary (DeMarco) and Salvatore Verrastro; his brothers, David and wife, Michelle (Sibio); Jason and fiancée, Jackie (Sheard-Swendsen); his in-laws, William and Jean Jordan, Linda and Al Raimondi, Karen and Joseph Perry, and William Jordan; several nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and so many close friends that are at a loss for words.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Salvatore and Sarah Verrastro; and maternal grandparents, Mary and Pompeo DeMarco.

The family would like to thank everyone who reached out to us in our time of need. We are just so amazed at the outpouring of support we are receiving and how much people love and respect Sal. No words can describe the heartache we feel and how much we are going to miss him.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker Street, Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

All those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church.
