A year has passed and I'm sure many are remembering Dr. de Soto like I am. On this the 1 year anniversary it is with sadness still fresh on many peoples hearts that we remember him. Our prayers still go out to his family, friends and to all the patients who miss him very much. It is indeed a very sad day.

I have written before. I had a wonderful memory about Dr. Desoto. He told me that he loves the people who work with him. Two of them he mentioned was Katie and when Megan worked there. He said that he hand picked them himself. He wanted only the best for his patients. The last thing I remember him telling me that I would like to share with others is that he reminded me that just because a person cries does not mean that they are not strong. I always felt that I was not strong. He reconfirmed that for me. And said don't forget the pain that you have it takes a strong person to go thru it. Thanks Dr. Desoto for being a person too. God Bless Dr. Desoto's office and Family.

After reading all of the 171 condolances I believe I can speak for all who's life Dr.deSoto touched by saying this memorial: "THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO BRING A LIGHT SO GREAT TO THE WORLD THAT EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE GONE THE LIGHT REMAINS" My hope is that this wonderful man knew how much he was admired, respected and loved. Rest in peace dear Dr. deSoto

July 28, 2013

I Sandra Spencer wrote earlier, and just don't feel I have said enough to the family, friends, fellow coliques and employees he now leaves behind. I know (from my own experience) He was an early riser and one of the first Doctors to arrive at the many hospitals he was a Doctor at. I feel empty inside and feel such a GREAT loss, as I am sure so many do. He made my transition from Florida to Lackawanna County much brighter and was always looking out for my (and my families) best interest. I am still in SHOCK!!! I know he always went to work early, so being on the road at that hour does not surprise me, however, crossing the medium does. I just can't make sense of his tragic passing. I hope more ivestigation will be done. I (as well as so many) wil truly miss you Dr. D.... May God Bless you and your family.

Dear Dr. and Mrs. deSoto and Family,

I grew up across the street from you and your family. I will never forget the constant ball games we kids all played together in the street with Donni and the other boys. He was always so nice to all of us and someone we enjoyed being around. We were excited for him when we learned he went to medical school and became a Psychiatrist. We were happy he had a great life ahead of him.

My deepest condolences to all of you. Your loss is unimaginable.

My deepest Sympathy to Dr. deSoto's family, friends, and loved ones. I have been a patient for almost 5 years. Dr. DeSoto's loss in our medical community will take years to repair, and then I don't think it will ever be the same. He truly was a great physician. I am praying for his daughters. So it is said time heals. I hope that's true for his family. As for his patients our grieving without that bright light he could shine on our darkests moments is heartbreaking. God bless the families. Without a doubt one of the best men I've ever known..

Dear Desoto Family,
I'm so very sorry for the loss of a great man. He saved my life when I struggled with a clinical depression for 10 yrs. After that my 21 yr. old son died tragically in a tractor trailer accident. He helped me deal with losing Brad who was only 21 yrs of age. Now we have to deal with losing our friend and wonderful doctor. God Bless you and your Family. Remember that you WILL see him again one day. This is what keeps me going.

Many years ago I was sent into a very deep dark depression. I was sent to many Drs. and finally found Dr. deSoto. He was the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. His Smile, His Words, His Compassion, and Care made it easy to want to see him for help. He never gave up therefore I never gave up because I didn't want to disappoint him. Thanks to this wonderful Dr. and Man I no longer see darkness. I will forever be grateful and I will never forget this unbelievable man. I cry for all his patients loss and for his family and friends loss. I will always keep him in my prayers with Love.

I am completely heartbroken and devastated beyond belief. I have seen many doctors for my condition. Most were not very kind to me. I gave up hope and was hanging onto my life by a thread. That changed when I met Dr. Danilo De Soto. He treated me with dignity and compassion. He treated me like I was a human being, which was a way I was never treated before. Since his passing, I feel a sense of abandonment and as though my safety net has been removed. He touched many lives. God bless him and him family. This man was a saint. So kind and caring. I will never forget him. I am well and have my life back because of him.

God Bless the DeSoto family, friends and co workers. We met Dr. Desoto during our darkest hour. Our Mom had Dementia. HE was the light for our family. Even though our Mom didn't speak anymore, Her eyes would light up & come alive when he entered the room with his infectious smile. Even SHE could feel his love and compassion. He was such an amazing man & touched so many lives. We take comfort knowing that he will now be with our Mom and probably STILL taking care of her. God Bless all of you!!

I was afraid to write until I saw so many entries that reflected my feelings. I didn't know Dr. Desoto's family, however I have some understanding of their pain. One of the issues Dr. Desoto was helping me with was the loss of a loved one to a horrific, fiery car crash. The shock of this was almost too much. I cried for 2 days. Ironically, it was Dr. Desoto's help that allowed me to carry on. He was an amazing man. The minute he walked in the room, all thoughts of suicide walked out. This is such a tragic loss. I can only say that as homage to him, I will not allow myself to go back into that hole he helped me out of. I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

Dr. Desoto was a compassionate man with a good since of humor. I was a patient of his. When we first met I told him I would not want to be my doctor.(My belly has a hard time with meds.) He said why did the hair on the back of my neck just stand up? We both started laughing. I feel that he wanted me to feel he is human just like everyone else. Then he said ok lets work on this together again he showed me that I had a say in my health. My heart goes out to Dr. Desoto's family friends staff and patients. My prayers are with you all.

What can be said for a man whose voice was calming; his smile warming; his personality comforting? What comes to mind is that "You will be so missed in this world". I am a patient of Dr. de Soto's and am heartbroken with his passing but I am blest to know that he touched my heart...my life and helped me through some of life's trying times. He helped me find my inner strength and I have a lasting memory of him walking me out of his office, just weeks ago, reassuring me that I am stronger than I realize with that warm smile on his face that always made me feel great. I don't know what I'll do without him but I do know the strength he helped me find will help me through. My sympathies to his family, especially his daughters. While easier said then done, stay strong for him and each other and be very proud of your Dad and his ability to touch the lives of so very many people. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, as is he. Donna
