Carl F. Neu


Carl F. Neu, 104, a lifelong resident of Scranton died April 26 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. His wife, the former Mary Supron, died Jan. 30, 2004.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Charles and Minnie Hartman Neu, he attended Scranton Technical High School, and was a member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.

He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 60. He served as a member of the Scranton Fire Department for 27 years. Before retirement, he worked for Scranton Housing.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Phillips and her husband, Walter, Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Robert and Kurt Phillips and Sue Ojaniit; six greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Neu; and four sisters, Ruth, Loretta, Grace and Louise Neu.

Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Abington Hills Cemetery, 800 Morgan Highway, South Abington Twp., with services by the Rev. Dr. Stuart Thomas Wilson, interim pastor of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.
