Jill Marie Luciani Mooty

Jill Mooty Obituary

Jill Mooty, 55, of Odenton, Md., peacefully passed into eternal life Friday February 8, 2013, at the home of her sister after a long, courageous battle with carcinoid cancer.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Jill was the eldest living daughter of the late John J. and Nancy Griffiths Luciani. She grew up in Scranton and Moosic Lakes, was a graduate of Bishop Klonowski High School and earned a B.S. in accounting from the University of Scranton. After becoming a CPA, Jill moved to Maryland, where she lovingly raised her family and established her career as an admired and respected accountant as well as a community leader. She was owner of Jill Mooty and Associates, PA. She served as former president of the board of the Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce, board member of Revere Bank and member of the Laurel Business and Professional Women's Club. Her greatest joy was her family and being a dedicated Baltimore Ravens season ticket- holder. Jill was a devoted daughter, loving mother and grandmother, extraordinary sister, fun loving aunt, and true friend to so many. Her positive attitude, infectious smile and unconditional love will be greatly missed.

She is survived by daughters, Jennifer Mooty and Rebecca Cline; grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Nealon; brothers, JJ and Chris; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann.

At Jill's request, services will be private. Arrangements, Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, Jessup, Pa.

Contributions in Jill's memory can be made to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, 333 Mamaroneck Avenue #492, White Plains, NY 10605 or online at www.carci noid.org; St. Joseph's Center Foundation, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509 or on line at www.stjosephscenter.org; or the donor's favorite charity.

In the spirit of how Jill lived her life: "You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching, Love like you'll never be hurt, Sing like there's nobody listening, And live like it's Heaven on Earth." (Purkey)

I met Jill at the University of Scranton possibly in an accounting class. She was a star and a wonderful person . Too bad our paths were so diverse as she was so memorable. God bless her children . I´m sure she was a great mom.

My heart goes out to Jill's family and my deepest sympathy. I just learned of Jill's passing. I spoke to her not long before her death, and so typical of Jill to be so upbeat - the Ravens' superbowl win was for her!! I miss her and all my prayers go out to her family.

Jennifer & Becky - I was shocked and so very saddened to learn of your mother's passing. I last saw her about 3-4 years ago when we attended an Oriioles game together. I know you two girls were her biggest joy. May God bless you and keep you! My prayers are for you and your family right now. Love, Marie, Ryan, Alex & Sam.

I haven't seen Jill in many years. She was my Sorority sister in High School. I remember her extraordinary smile and good nature and remember her happy nature and good times. I'm certain her untimely death is devastating to her whole extended family. I'm so sorry for your loss. How bizzare to learn that she grew up and was born near Bridgeport in CT. Which is where my family lived until I was 13. (Stratford). GOD Bless you!
