Robert Brennan Obituary

Mr. Bob Brennan, 70, passed peacefully at his home in Broomall, Pa., on Thursday, March 7, surrounded by his family, his wife and his four children.

Born in Scranton, Pa., to Robert and Helen Brennan, Bob was raised in Dalton and graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1960. A born salesman, Bob began his professional career with Scranton Business Machines before moving to the Philadelphia area to join IBM. While in Philadelphia he earned a business degree from St. Joseph's University. However, Bob's heart remained in Scranton and he returned every weekend. On one such trip and with a little help from his Mother, Bob met Jane Manning in the summer of 1966. They wed in 1968, the two best friends and partners spent the next 45 years in the Philadelphia suburbs to raise their family in Broomall.

Bob's 36-year career in sales was a testament to his passion working with others. He facilitated fundraising activities for his sons' Boy Scout Troop, assisted in coaching his children's baseball teams and in retirement worked together with Jane to provide meals for the elderly through St. John Neumann Parish. An aviation enthusiast, Bob earned a pilot's license and spent the better part of three decades flying at local airports, a hobby he supported through his second career at Chester County Aviation. Bob was a member of St. John Nuemann Church in Bryn Mawr, Pa. and local charities to include Meals on Wheels.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jane of 44 years; daughter, Jennifer; daughter, Pamela Henry (Mark); and daughter, Elizabeth; sons, Robert (Irina); Patrick (Maggie); and son, Eamonn.

A viewing will be held at the Frank C. Videon Funeral Home, Broomall, today, March 10 from 5-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Neumann Church, 380 Highland Avenue, Bryn Mawr, with a calling from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Friends may also call Tuesday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 at the Eugene A. Cusick Funeral Home, 217 Jefferson Avenue, Scranton, followed by interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow with Msgr. John Jordan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society Eastern Pa. Chapter, 555 North Lane, Suite 5010, Conshohocken, PA 19482; the Wissahickon Hospice, 150 Monument Road, Suite 300, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19008; or Chronic Disease Fund Assistance Program, 6900 North Dallas Parkway, Suite 200, Plano, TX 75024.

I worked with Bob at GSI in the 1990's. I have thought about him many times over the years. He was such a great guy. So intelligent, always positive and always fun to be around. I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
