Albert A. Amoedo, 85, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday at VNA Hospice and Home Health of Lackawanna County at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Barbara Ann Burris. They were married for 30 years.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., son of the late Charles Anton and Wilhelmena Amoedo, he was raised in Stamford, Conn. He spent most of his life in New York and more recently Pennsylvania. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1946.

He was an Air Force veteran serving in World War II and Korea with the rank of tech sergeant. He retired from Continental Baking Co. (Hostess) with more than 38 years of service.

He enjoyed swimming and bowling.

He is also survived by four daughters, Kathleen J. Burton, Peekskill, N.Y.; Lorraine Varrone, Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; Ginamarie McCloskey, Washington; and Alison Cherkoski, Clarks Summit; two sons, Robert B., Atlanta, Ga.; and Richard, Statesville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles A.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Hudak-O'Shea Funeral Home Inc., 115 Garfield Ave., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, Delaware Street, Olyphant. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
