Alice Patterson Lewis


Alice Patterson Lewis , a resident of Meadowood at Worcester, formerly of West Chester and
Broomall, died Dec. 10, 2013, of a heart attack. She was the wife of Ellwood Shubert Lewis .
Born July 29, 1919, in Scranton, daughter of the late Roswell H. and Emma Scudder Patterson, she
graduated from Central High School, Scranton, and Keystone Junior College, LaPlume. After graduating
from Keystone, she moved to the Philadelphia area and worked for the Continental Insurance Co. and
later the Sauer Insurance Agency. After taking off a number of years to raise her family, she took a job
with Penney's Custom Decorating as office manager in 1970. She retired in 1982. She was also a
member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Havertown.
She was an excellent tennis and bridge player, and also enjoyed investing.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lewis , Grand Forks, N.D.; a son, Jeffrey Lewis and wife,
Mary Ann Rossi, Downingtown; a brother, Roswell S. Patterson, Endwell, N.Y., formerly of Waverly;
nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Mary Patterson, formerly of
Scranton; Emma Kraemer, Melbourne, Fla.; and Louise Patterson, Scranton.
Arrangements are by the R.L. Williams Jr. Funeral Home Inc., Skippack.
