Allen Scripp of Scranton died Monday at Dunmore Health Care Center.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Michael Allen Scripp and Beatrice Purty Scripp Lynott, he was a member of Dunmore United Methodist Church and educated in Dunmore public schools. An Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, he received the National Defense Service Medal and Expert in Rifle. Before retirement, he was employed by Pella Windows.

Surviving are a son, Michael Scripp, Dunmore; a daughter, Mary Ellen Angerson and husband, Bruce, Dunmore; five grandchildren; two brothers, Red Purty, New York; and Marty Lynott, Scranton; two sisters, Audrey Gorrick, Factoryville; and Ellen Lynott Scranton; his very close cousin and best friend, Jimmy Scrip, North Carolina; several other cousins, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Dunmore United Methodist Church, 222 S. Blakely St., with services by the Rev. Charles Gommer. Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11. Arrangements by the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton.
