Alyce Metro of Moosic died Wednesday in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. Her husband, Walter Metro, died in 1979.

Born in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Kulbida. Educated in Taylor schools, she was a former member of St. Joseph's Church, now Divine Mercy Parish, Minooka; the Downtown Scranton Senior Center; and the Sloan Seniors.
Alyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend to many. She was very active in the many plays and shows that were staged by the Scranton Seniors and also enjoyed ballroom dancing, polka dancing and line dancing. Her love, kindness and memory will always be cherished by her family.
Alyce is survived by three daughters, Sandra McAndrew, Jefferson Twp.; Joyce Gallis and husband, William, Jefferson Twp.; and Kathy Lee, Moosic; four grandsons, Russ McAndrew and wife, Katie, Avoca; Air Force Lt. Col. Matthew McAndrew, and wife, Dina, Tampa, Fla.; Karl Gallis, Ph.D., and wife, Kimberly, Perryville, Md.; and Brian Gallis and wife, Tiffany, Bath; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son in-law, Bart McAndrew; and three sisters, Mary Kulbida, Olga Chasson and Kathryn Baiduk.
Her funeral will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Eulalia's Church, to be celebrated by Monsignor John W. Jordan, pastor. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials made in Alyce's name to St. Eulalia Church, 214 Blue Shutters Road, Roaring Brook Twp., PA 18444.
