Ann L. Tell McDonnell of Scranton died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the wife of David J. McDonnell. The couple would have celebrated 31 years of marriage August 24.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Alexander and Dorothy "Charmane" Miller Tell, she was a member of St. Ann's Basilica. She was educated in Scranton Public Schools and a 1958 graduate of West Scranton High School, where she was honored to be the first Miss Invader. She was a graduate of Marywood University with a CNA Degree and was employed by the University of Scranton in its dietary department, where she met her husband Dave. Ann was also employed as a private duty CNA at clients homes.
Ann loved people and lived her life for her family and especially her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Allied Services especially, Kim Yablonski unit manager of 3 north, and the staff of Moses Taylor Hospital 4th floor for all the kindness and compassion which was shown to Ann and her family.
Also surviving one daughter, Patricia A. Salerno Skurka and husband, Robert J., Scranton; two step-sons, David McDonnell, West Chester; and Christopher McDonnell of Philadelphia; one step-daughter, Maura McDonnell, Flourtown; one brother, Thomas Tell and wife, Ann Marie, Scranton; 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Selina and Debbi Kaminski; Michael Adams, Christian Skurka, R.J. Talerico, Madeline, Abigail, Conor, Sean, Katie and Scott McDonnell; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debbi Salerno Adams; and one granddaughter, Jennifer P. Kaminski.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Davies & Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call today 4 to 8 p.m.
