Audrey M. Hobbs, 86, of Mechanicsburg, died Thursday at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William T. Hobbs.

Audrey was born on Sept. 13, 1926, in Dunmore and was the daughter of the late Harold and Mabel Jepsen Machler. Audrey graduated as salutatorian from Dunmore High School. She was also a majorette and chorus accompanist. Audrey lived with her husband and family in Clarks Green for four decades. During that time, she was an active member of the Grace Reformed Episcopal Church, Scranton, where she sang in the choir, played the piano and taught Sunday school. Audrey was very dedicated to her faith in God and was active in Child Evangelism and Gideons International. Recently, she was a regular attendee of the worship services held at Messiah Village, where she and her husband resided for the past 16 years.

Audrey's life was enriched by a long and wonderful marriage to her husband, Bill; great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren; her love of music; and many joyful vacations, especially at the New Jersey shore. She will be remembered by all for her love and devotion to God and family, her gracious gift of hospitality and deep compassion for others.

She is survived by two sons, David Hobbs and wife, Lora, Peckville; and William Hobbs and wife, Regina, of Pen Argyl; a daughter, Karen Durbin and husband, David, of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Barbara Markarian and husband, David; a sister-in-law, Fran Machler; six grandchildren, Eric Durbin and wife, Stacy; Geoffrey Durbin, Renee Durbin, Alicia Hobbs, Letizia Hobbs and Gavin Hobbs; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Hobbs; and a brother, Arthur Machler.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Messiah Village Chapel, 100 Mount Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg. Pastor Terry Rose will officiate.

Visitation with the family will be held in the chapel on Monday at noon until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Dunmore Cemetery.
