Betty Schell, a resident of Scranton, died Wednesday at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility in Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Carl Schell.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Ruth and George Yarns, Betty was raised in Clarks Summit, and lived many years in Park Ridge, N.J. Betty was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Scranton. She was a volunteer for Telespond, the Abington Public Library, Meals on Wheels and was a literacy volunteer for SCOLA.
Betty's family is very grateful to the Allied Skilled Nursing Facility staff on First Floor North for their tender care, kindness, compassion and friendship. Their dedicated service to Betty is greatly appreciated.
Also surviving is a daughter, Sandra Rocheleau; siblings, Gail Kish of Clarks Summit; Shirley Krizofsky of Fishersville, Va.; and George Yarns of Clarks Summit; granddaughter, Nichole Gogolen; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Tommy.
A memorial service will be held at the Asbury United Methodist Church. Date and time will be announced by the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, Scranton, or the Lackawanna Branch of the Association for the Blind, Scranton.
