Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Paul and Jennie Bridget Salvatore, she was a graduate of the St. Rose Academy, Carbondale. Carmela began her professional career as a book keeper for Stephens Dairy and was also known to hitch a ride home on the delivery truck. She continued her career working for the Lackawanna County row offices and later worked in both Harrisburg, Pa., and Scranton, Pa., for State Workers' Insurance Fund, retiring after over 25 years of service. Carmela was a member of the St. Rose Parish, Carbondale, and a large financial contributor to many charitable and political organizations.
Carmela will be most fondly remembered for her dedication to miniature Christmas villages and her vast collection of Ashton Drake Dolls. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Lackawanna Rehabilitation Center, especially unit C2, who not only made Carmela family but made us feet like family as well. Also a special thank you to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart who during her last days provided Carmela the dignity she was so deserving of.
