Charlene A. Smith, 74, of Taylor and formerly of Old Forge, died Saturday in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Donald J. Smith Sr., who died June 26, 2012. The couple had been married for 53 years. She passed surrounded by her loving children.

Born in Old Forge, daughter of the late Charles A. and Theresa Killino Carra, she was a 1957 graduate of Old Forge High School. Charlene still met with surviving classmates regularly. She retired from Angelica Health Care in the 1990s.

Nothing pleased her more than to be with her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her close family, who gathered every Friday at her home. She loved holidays, and would often be found dancing in the kitchen while cooking.

Surviving are her five children, daughters, Terry Marcheona, Scranton; Donna Borent and husband, Bill, Taylor; and Sheryl Webb, Old Forge; sons, Donald Smith Jr. and wife, Carol, Scranton; and Charles A. Smith and spouse, Ronn McGreevy, Taylor; five grandchildren, Billy and Chris Borent, Randy Webb and Dominic and Lily Smith; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Logan and Mason Borent; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Piccolini.

Her family would like to acknowledge Dr. James Mc-Kenna and staff member, Mary, as well as the staff of the ICU at Geisinger CMC for their compassionate care.

The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. in St. Ann's Basilica Parish, 1233 St. Ann's St., Scranton. Those planning to attend are asked to proceed directly to the basilica. Interment is privately reserved for immediate family in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge, following Mass.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Robert J. Gillette, funeral director, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge.
