Claire E. Gregory, 88, of Clarks Summit, died Jan. 7.

Born June 17, 1924, in Scranton, Claire was the daughter of the late Tracy and Maude Babcock. She graduated from Scranton Central High School in 1942. She was an active member of the Scranton Canoe Club, a member of the bridge group and, for many years, the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. In her 80s, she moved to Richboro to be with her daughter.

Claire worked for the Hudson Coal Co. for six years where she met her late husband, Harry E. Gregory. They enjoyed playing golf together and traveling.

The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks for the care and comfort given to her by the staff at the Crestview Nursing Center and Life Choice Hospice. Claire was known for her catchphrase "cat's meow." If she spoke those words to you, you knew she liked you.

Surviving family members are Harry E. Gregory Jr., Burnt-Hills-Ballstone Lake, N.Y.; two daughters, Christine Bevens, Clarksville, Md.; and Doreen Corry, Richboro; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. in Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, Morgan Highway, with services by the Rev. Judy Adams.

Friends may call at the church on April 20, 9:30 until the time of service.
