Daniel S. Kuchar, 85, of Scranton, died Wednesday in Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. His wife is the former Ann Theresa O'Brien. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage on Sept. 20.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Stanley and Helen Minich Kuchar, Daniel was a devout Catholic and a very active member in all church activities at St. Paul's Church. A graduate of Central High School and the University of Scranton, he was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II. Before retirement, he was the founder and owner of the Kuchar Insurance Agency for more than 50 years.

He was an active member of the Scranton Sierra Club, an avid Yankees fan and a musician. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.

Also surviving are a son, Daniel Kuchar, Scranton; a daughter, Caroline Proctor, Sterling, Va.; two grandchildren, Daniel Kuchar and Colleen Kuchar; a sister, Jean Bielski, Scranton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Kuchar.

A viewing will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30. Entombment in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
