David E. Heil, 62, of Scranton, died Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness.

Born Feb. 27, 1950, in Scranton, son of the late Leo and Janet Sloss Heil, he was employed by Conrail and formerly the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad for many years. He was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Scott Twp.

Surviving are a sister, Janet K. Wittenbrader, Lake Ariel; a brother, Dennis Heil and wife, Sally, Frenchtown, N.J.; four nephews, Jason, Ryan, Justin Wittenbrader and Eric Heil; a niece, Jennifer Hoch; and his friend, Deborah Loessy, Roaring Brook Twp.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Donald Hasselman as officiating clergy. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Twp.
