David H. Goodenough of Rileyville died Monday morning at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA at Regional Hospital following an illness. His wife is the former Shirley Medlar. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March.

Born February 16, 1941, on the Goodenough Family Farm, son of the late Kenneth B. and Anna Lilholt Goodenough, he was a graduate of Honesdale High School Class of 1959. He was a logger, farmer, "grave digger", and owner of a small excavating business and a bus and van contractor for Wayne Highlands School District for 35 years. He was a member of the Rileyville Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and storytelling with his nephews, James and Rob Histed and his friend, Bob Spaulding.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dianna of Somerville, Mass.; a son, Michael and his wife, Ilene of Rileyville; a sister, Sylvia Bailey of Pleasant Mount; an adopted grandson, Michael Birmingham; 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Histed, in 1973.

Interment of ashes and a celebration of his life will be held in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rileyville Presbyterian Church, 2497 Great Bend Turnpike, Honesdale, PA 18431.

Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care of the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
