Dora Arlene "Gram" Barhight Tucker, 89, of Hamlin, died Saturday at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was married to the late Harold Edward Tucker, who passed away March 30, 1959. She passed away surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Moosic on June 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Annie Mickel and James Barhight. Dora graduated from Moosic High School. She worked as a kindergarten teacher's assistant at Moosic Elementary and was a Matron at the House of Detention, Scranton. She was a member of the Moosic Fireman's Auxiliary and Fireman's Federation, Senior Citizens and a member of the Hamlin Centenary United Methodist Church.

Dora liked to do crossword puzzles, crocheting, visiting Arizona with her granddaughter, going on rides and yard sale-ing with her daughters, and going for texas weiners. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a kind and caring mother and grandmother who will be very much missed by her family.

Dora is survived by six children, Sally Tansits and husband, Frank, Kingsley; Jean Bruce and husband, Robert, Moscow; Dorrance Tucker and companion, Ilona Merring, Moscow; Ardyce Motisko and husband, Monte, Moscow; Blaine Tucker and wife, Debra, Lake Ariel; and Keith Tucker and wife, Carol, Daleville; daughter-in-law, Dawn Tucker, Pittston; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by sons, Carl and Francis (Butch) Tucker; daughter, LauraLee Sabitus; grandsons, Carl Joseph Tucker and Joseph Strok III; son-in-law, Joseph Sabitus; sisters, Marjorie Barhight, Elsie Stalbird, Hazel Stalbird and Jean Lewis; and brothers, Howard, Peter and Robert (Mickey) Barhight.

The family would like to thank the nurses at the Moses Taylor and Hospice Community Care in Dunmore for the care and love they showed to our mother during these past few weeks.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3 First Street, Spring Brook Twp., PA 18444, with Pastors Chris Klimecko of Hamlin Centenary United Methodist Church and Eric Luczak of Daleville United Methodist Church conducting the service. Interment to follow in the East Canaan Cemetery of South Canaan.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
