Elizabeth Caputo, 101, a guest at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, formerly of West Scranton, died Friday at the center. She was the widow of Carmen B. Caputo, who died in 1975.

Born in Old Forge, daughter of the late Peter and Lucy Guerrieri Menichetti, she was a graduate of Old Forge High School and the salutatorian of her class. She was also a graduate of Lackawanna Business School. Before retirement, she was employed by the American Cancer Society and had previously worked for the Social Security Administration and the Department of Public Assistance. She was a member of St. Ann's Basilica Monastery Parish and was an active volunteer at the novena. She also volunteered a lot of her time at Community Medical Center.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Dr. Bruce Ruppenthal, the nurses and staff of the Jewish Home, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their professionalism and loving kindness.
Surviving are a daughter, Maria Russo; a grandson, Ronald Russo Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Russo, all of South Abington Twp.; a cousin, Gloria Manzi, Rutherford, N.J.; several nieces and nephews.
Her sisters and brother, Louise Penfilli, Rose Bugianesi, Henry Menichetti and Silvia Menichetti, also preceded her in death.
The funeral will be Monday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. Ann's Monastery Church, 1250 St. Ann's St. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m.
