It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend, Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Herman, 68, Tunkhannock, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Scranton, daughter of the late Theodore and Helen Nestor Filipski. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1963.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her warm, gentle and caring nature. She loved the lord deeply and had great faith. She was a member of Our Lady of Snows Church, Lake Winola, Pa. Betty had a special love in her heart for all animals. She was a loyal member of several organizations specializing in the care of animals including the Humane Society and the World Wildlife Federation.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Nestor and Jean Marie Tyska; and brothers, Joseph and Theodore Filipski.
Surviving is her devoted husband, Fred, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage next October. They had four children together and seven grandchildren, daughters, Belinda Herman, Tunkhannock; Angelica Herman, Scranton; Kendra Deman and her husband, Larry, Castle Rock, Colo.; and son, Frederick Herman IV and his wife, Dia, Larksville, Pa.; grandchildren, which whom she loved and adored and who loved and adored her, Frederick V., Micaela, Nathaniel and Emma Herman; Jacob Roberts, Julia and Aiden DeMan; as well as many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Janet Belcerzak, with whom she was especially close. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with Deacon Thomas Cesarini, officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Humane Society or World Wildlife Federation in Betty's name would be appreciated.
