Elizabeth Jane Harvey, 78, of Tunkhannock, succumbed to a long-term illness Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on June 8, 1935, daughter of the late Ray Pratt and Margarite Rugg Gleason.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Merle R. Harvey; sister-in-law, Joyce Vought, Owego, N.Y.; her children, Timothy L. and wife, Ruth, Elmira, N.Y.; and David L. and wife, Tammy, Greenville, S.C.; daughter, Karen E. Harris, Tunkhannock; grandchildren, Sean (Nannette), Nathaniel, Brianna, Lindsey, John Zachary and Evan; and great-grandchildren, Violet and Jude.

She was a 1953 graduate of Waverly High School, Waverly, N.Y., and Wilson Memorial School of Nursing, where she received her RN degree. Elizabeth concluded her career at Tioga Nursing Facility as the director of nursing.

Elizabeth enjoyed flower gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, Pa. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola, Pa.

Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 until the time of the service.
