Eugene Kurey, 82, of Ransom Twp., formerly of Scranton, died Sunday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. His wife is Margaret "Marge" Berry Kurey.

Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Michael and Theresa Seneshin Kurey. Educated in West Scranton High School, he retired from Procter and Gamble, Washington Twp.
Gene was a loving husband, father and papa whose grandchildren were his light. He was an avid Penn State, Eagles and Phillies fan, and was the biggest fan at his grandchildren's sporting events.
He is also survived by a son, Eugene M. Kurey and wife, Natalie, Ransom Twp.; two daughters, Diane Rachal and husband, Daniel, Dunmore; and Loriann Marinchak, Scranton; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Chelsea and Jessica Kurey, Melissa Rachal, Stephanie, Michael Jr. and Mark Marinchak; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Anna Paschuk, Nicholson; nieces, and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, John and Stephen Kurey; and a son-in-law, Michael Marinchak.
Viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton, with services at 6:45 by the Right Rev. Nestor S. Kowal. Committal of cremains will be private. Condolences: www.chomko funeralhome.com
