Florence Carey Tarby of Olyphant, formerly of Peckville, died Wednesday in the ER at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of Alex "Porky" Tarby, who died July 10, 2004. The couple was married for 54 years.

Born in Peckville, daughter of the late John and Jenny Manning Carey, she attended Blakely schools and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a former member of Wilson Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed in the local garment industry.

She is survived by two sons, William and wife, Geraldine, Throop; and James and wife, Ruth, Peckville; and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Corrie.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette and Dorothy Carey, and Helen Davis.

The funeral will be Monday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Mass at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment, St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
