Floyd Davis, 81, of Moosic, died Sunday at the VA Medical Center, Plains Twp. He and his wife, the former Lucille Nowakowski, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary Nov. 12.

Born in Moosic, son of the late John and Isabell Brown Davis, he was a graduate of Moosic High School. He served with the Marines during the Korean War. For more than 45 years, he was employed by Standard Beef, Scranton, which later became Made Rite Steak Co., Dunmore. He was a member of American Legion Post 585, Duryea, and the Meat Cutters Union.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie Davis, Moosic; sisters, Anna Cavalari, Connecticut; and Isabell Ciliberto, Pittston; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gen. Sid Davis; and sisters, Louise Evans and Elizabeth McGuire.

Funeral services and interment will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Duryea, by the Rev. Andrew Sinnott. Anyone attending the services is asked to go directly to the cemetery.

A viewing will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea. A vigil service will be at 6:30 by the Rev. Sinnott. American Legion Post 585 will conduct military services at 7.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
