Francis A. Butrymovich, 65, Carbondale, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center after an illness. He took ill while boating on Lake Wallenpaupack a week ago. His wife is the former Doreen Gamalia.

Born in Eynon, son of the late Andrew and Sabina Rose Butrymovich, he was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Francis enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing and was a mason by trade.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home, 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with services at 3 p.m. and military services at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment at a later date.
