Frank A. Gruden, 76, of Scranton died Friday at the Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA, Scranton. His wife was the late Catherine (Valezano) Gruden, who died April 29, 2011. They were married for 39 years.

Born in Browndale on Nov. 25, 1937, son of the late Frank and Christine (Kloptoski) Gruden, Frank was a graduate of Forest City High School. After high school, he joined the Navy and served for four years. Frank worked many years for the American Can Co., Minooka, and retired from the University of Scranton after 20 years of service with the maintenance department.
Frank enjoyed going to the casino, vacationing with the family and watching wrestling in his favorite recliner. He also loved Sunday visits from his grandchildren and, especially, attending Madison's sporting events and school activities.
He is survived by a son, Frank, and wife, Tracey, Wilkes-Barre; daughter, Greta Vinskofski, Scranton; sister, Marion Benarick, Forest City; grandchildren, Andrew, Gavin, Cameron and Benjamin Gruden and Madison Vinskofski; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Nativity Of Our Lord Parish, Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, by the Rev. Andrew Sinnot.
Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
