George G. Weibel, 91, of West Scranton, died Friday at Commonwealth Hospice Inpatient Unit at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife is the former Ruth Evans. They had been married for 63 years.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Lawrence and Edna Geiss Weibel, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, class of January 1941. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Embury United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 920. He had been employed as a telephone installer at Bell Telephone.
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara Puckett and husband, Marvin, Scranton; and two grandsons, Richard and Kevin Puckett.
He was also preceded in death by a son, David George Weibel; a brother, Lorenz Weibel; and a sister, Mildred Weibel.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Leon S. Gorgol Funeral Home, 1131 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Linda Eckersley, pastor, Embury United Methodist Church. Interment, Washburn Street Cemetery.
