George Weinschenk Obituary

George J. Weinschenk, 89, a longtime resident of Dunmore, died Monday morning at home. His wife of 55 years is the former Helen Deykes.

Born in Scranton, son of the late George R. and Nora M. Murphy Weinschenk, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and attended Baltimore College of Commerce. He was employed by Eureka of Scranton and, before retirement, was the owner of Thelro Inc., Scranton. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Scranton.

Also surviving are three daughters, Cheryl Freye and husband, Ken, Winthrop, Maine; Barbara Weinschenk, Stamford, Conn.; and Susan Rutz and husband, Tom, Stamford; four grandchildren, Justin and Andrew Freye, and Claire and Mollie Rutz.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Scranton, with the Rev. Peter D'Angio, officiating. Entombment, St. Luke's Episcopal Church Columbarium.

Friends may call Saturday, 9 to 11, in St. Luke's parish hall. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 232 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18503; or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. George was a really good guy.He always treated me well and made me feel welcome in his home .I'm sorry to learn of his passing and send my sympathies to Helen , the girls and their families .He'll be missed .
