George P. Nicholson, 84, of Ulster, died Wednesday at home following a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Rosemary Nicholson, in 2002.

He was born on June 22, 1928, in New York City, the son of the late George P. and Barbara Wilbur Nicholson. George proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He was an honest, caring family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

George is survived by a son, Louis Nicholson of Ulster; grandchildren, Anamaryah Nicholson of Scranton; Louis Nicholson Jr. of Ulster; and Cash Carter Nicholson of Ulster; and great-granddaughter, Savanah Rosemary Nicholson.

He was also predeceased by his brother, Paul Nicholson in 2011.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, Dec. 8, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 1 with the Rev. Edward Michellini from the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
