Geraldine J. "Gerry" Jennes, 77, of Throop, died peacefully Thursday afternoon at home following an illness. She was the widow of Joseph A. Jennes, who died in 2003.

Born in Throop, daughter of the late John and Helen Malinowski Sosnowski, she was a graduate of Throop High School, class of 1953. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church, Throop, serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, daily Mass server, choir member, officer of the former Mothers Club and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She and her husband, Joe, owned and operated the Jennes Insurance Agency in Throop for many years and more recently, with her daughter Renee.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who devoted her life to her family and church.

She is survived by a daughter, Renee Jennes and companion and partner, David M. Pecca, of Dunmore; a grandson, Jacob Jennes, a student at University of the Arts, Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Katie Scheuch, a student at Keystone College, LaPlume; and several cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John J. Sosnowski, in 1999.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, 402 Boulevard Ave., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church, Rebecca Street, Throop, to be celebrated by Monsignor Michael J. Delaney, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Dickson City.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 7.
