Gerard J. "Jerry" Hildebrand, Southern Pines, N.C., died Friday. Jerry was predeceased in March by his beloved wife of 64 years, Jeanne Walsh Hildebrand.

Jerry was born on Aug. 26, 1926, in Scranton, the son of the late John G. and Louise Phillips Hildebrand. He was a graduate of St. Ann's High School, Scranton, and Penn State University with a degree in architectural engineering. He served with the Navy during World War II. He previously resided in the Waverly and Lake Winola areas. He was the owner of the G.J. Hildebrand Construction Co. and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

Surviving are four children, Lynn Barnhart (George) Pinehurst, N.C.; Dr. Gerard J. Hildebrand (Susan), Factoryville; Mark G. Hildebrand, Strafford; and John C. Hildebrand (Mary) Pinehurst; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Butler, Vestal, N.Y.; and Sally Bold Frick (Edward) Pinehurst.

Jerry was also predeceased by a sister, Madelyn Hildebrand.
